Every year I observe that Music Is Art, the great arts festival Robby Takac and his army of volunteers throw every fall, is a gathering of the tribes — for me, that means my friends in the music scene.
And it’s still true. In addition to being a great place to catch music and all kinds of art, it’s also a place to catch up. I must have run into two or three dozen friends there yesterday (Sept. 7).
But it has also occurred to me that MIA can be a lot of things to a lot of people It’s all in your choices of what you pick to listen to and to do. For me, my interests include roots music and old punk rock, among other things. So, obviously, that affected my choice of performers.
So instead of saying this was great or that wasn’t (and it really was pretty much all great in my book), I thought I’d try something different this year. Here is a quick look at one person’s MIA — through the video camera lens. It clocks in at just over 7 minutes, and it includes one full Jumpers song!
